Yerima contested the February 25 National Assembly election on the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party.In Yerima’s place, the tribunal declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Hafizu Kawu, as the winner of the poll.

The three-man tribunal, chaired by Justice I.P. Chima, made the decision while giving judgment on a petition filed by Kawu to challenge Yerima’s declaration as the winner of the poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The tribunal declared that in the face of his forged certificate, all the votes garnered at the poll by Yerma amounted to wasted votes.All rights reserved.
