Talks of a potential retirement were surfacing, but the German opted to pen a year-long extension to remain at Madrid.
It was said that the player’s salary has been kept the same. However, Kroos seemingly would have been open to a reduced wage had Madrid made the request. Kroos said: : “If I have to lower my salary, I would do it without any problem because when you are a Madridista, it is not about money.”
