Erik ten Hag’s side had considered tabling a bid for Caicedo, having been ready to abandon interest in Chelsea’s Mason Mount after seeing two bids rejected earlier this month.
However, a breakthrough finally came on Thursday with Man United agreeing to pay an initial £55 million and an additional £5 million, depending on Mount’s appearances and the success of the team. Mount is understood to have agreed a five-year contract to join Man United, with an option for a further year.And according to The Athletic, Mount’s impending arrival at Old Trafford means Man United will abandon any interest in Caicedo, who now looks destined to move to Chelsea.
