Property and goods worth millions of naira were destroyed yesterday as Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service personnel and other emergency workers struggled to access the building as makeshift shops hindered their operation. Nigeria Lagos

Although, no life was lost, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency , Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency workers struggled to access the scene of the fire as makeshift shops hindered their operation.

As at 1:30 p.m., yesterday, the LASEMA team was still struggling to claim right of way and pulling the makeshift shops to access the building. While this was going on, the fire rescue team, were also battling with scavengers who were struggling to cart away iron and other valuables from the makeshift shops that were destroyed.

Lamenting her loss, she said: “I came back from India on January 8, 2023 where I imported 40-feet container of shoes, I bought goods from two other companies and I lost everything. I am pleading with the government to remove the shops from the road, they must be removed.”
