ESG largest issue facing miners
Traceability is the "mother of all battles" for metals and mining companies, Christoph Allain , group portfolio VP, non-ferrous metals, Nexans, told delegates during LME Week.Speaking as part of a panel on the future of the metals supply chain, Allain said that the push to track from mine to market could set an impossible task for companies, but it is one which is ultimately supported by the end consumer.
"We have a toolkit of different technologies, and blockchain, in terms of being immutable and sharing data between parties who don't trust each other, is very valuable," Cullen said.Delegates at the event agreed it was a big issue for the industry, with one person telling Mining Journal, that as smaller-scale inspector, the parameters of what information is sometimes disclosed could vary extraordinarily.
