In response, he felt it was important to explain his reasons for this change and address the concerns of those who were unhappy with the decision.Following consent and blessing from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and after considering the views of the Johor Islamic Religious Council , starting 1 January 2025, Johor’s weekend will be changed to Saturday and Sunday.
In his latest Facebook post, he pointed out that while many places have adopted Saturday and Sunday as their weekends, there are still some states that continue to observe Friday and Saturday as their days off. He further explained that this decision takes into account the wishes of the people of Johor to spend more time with their families and kids, along with the positive economic benefits that come from aligning with development projects aimed at improving the state and benefiting its people.
