The Nation Newspaper Tinubu’s performance under focus at book presentation
Some leaders of thought in various professions yesterday expressed divergent views on the performance of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the last 11 months.Leading From The Streets: Media Interventions by A Public Intellectual 1999-2019
According to him, there is no point in having social media regulation since Nigeria has enough laws to sanction media practitioners that violate rules of practice. “For us to understand Tinubunomics, we have to understand Tinubu himself because that is the name from which the whole idea is coming. Who is Tinubu and what are some of his world views, economically and so on? Tinubu comes from two backgrounds. One of the backgrounds is that he believes in the laissez faire economy.
“Of course, everybody understands that the subsidy is for us. We must understand that Tinubunomics is not just about the reforms, it is about handling power, infrastructural developments, and so on. It is about a politician who is a grassroots man along with a laissez faire ideology.” The book reviewer and Director General of the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs , Prof. Eghosa Osaghae, described the book as a compilation of 77 articles captured in seven chapters and remains a book of public record.
