PETALING JAYA: Three men were detained for driving while intoxicated following an anti-drink-driving operation in the district.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the three men, aged between 36 and 55, were detained under Section 451 of the Road Transport Act 1987 during the operation between 11pm on Friday and 3am on Saturday ."It is unfortunate that there are still those who drive while under the influence of alcohol," he said in a statement on Saturday .
The main objective of the operation was to curb and prevent motorists from driving while under the influence of alcohol, ACP Nik Ezanee said.The police also conducted checks on 266 motorists during the operation, he added. "We issued summonses to 44 motorists for various traffic offences, including 26 for driving or riding without a valid licence.Those who were issued summonses for driving without a licence could be fined up to RM1,000 or face up to three months' imprisonment or both upon conviction, he added.
