Three persons were confirmed dead while eight others were injured in an accident involving a Toyota Corolla car and a Nissan Micra taxi at Ile Ise Paanu, Ewekoro Local Government area of Ogun State.

The spokesman for the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abeokuta on Friday. Akinbiyi said the accident occurred at about 7:30 am due to excessive speed and loss of control on the part of the driver of the Toyota Corolla.

He added that the driver of the Corolla marked LND 618 FQ lost control and rammed into the Nissan Micra taxi with registration number AKM 590 YQ. “According to eyewitness, the driver of the Corolla car, due to excessive speed, lost control while on motion and rammed into the Micra taxi from the back while passengers in the taxi were alighting from it,” he said.
