14th January 2023With just over a month to the February 25, general elections in the country, The Rotimi Victor Rhodes-Vivour Youth Empowerment Foundation, a Civil Society Organisation based in Lagos, is seriously mobilizing Youths, Market Men, Women and Citizens to show interest, participate in the elections and ensure good governance in their overall interest.

“Good governance he said, is the process of measuring how public institutions conduct public affairs and manage public resources to guarantee the realization of human rights in a manner essentially free of abuse and corruption and with regard for the rule of law. In simple terms it is the process by which a government directs and controls the affairs of a state in a transparent, accountable and participatory manner.

He identified Transparency and responsiveness as key components of a matured system “Transparency means that citizens understand and have access to the means and manner in which decisions are made, especially if they are directly affected by such decisions. He stated that these are the principles which his foundation stands for and will always promote, he encouraged the people to embark on house to house mobilization and campaign for the victory of the APC at the polls.

There was an interactive session in which people shared their views and expectations on good governance. There was also entertainment and distribution of empowerment items for all the participants which was shared on the basis of first come, first served.
