AFL legend Malcolm Blight has finally lifted the lid on the “extreme” reason he was forced to quit the Geelong footy club.
Blight recalls round 12 of the 1994 season when his team the Cats played a lowly St Kilda side. On this day the Saints were the heavy underdogs against the ever successful Geelong team, yet the Saints had seven unanswered goals taking them to a commanding lead.“I don’t think I’ve ever said this before, what actually happened was we played in a couple of Grand Finals and were going really well, and there was St Kilda who weren’t travelling well and they were in front of us.
Blight continues saying, Garry Ablett Snr took it away from the Saints in the final quarter to win the game.Source:News Corp Australia “I made my decision virtually that after all you’ve brought to the club, I thought if that’s what it’s got to , I don’t have to put up with this. “It just disappointed me to no end… after all you’ve sort of done for the previous six years, you thought you might have had a few credit points, but that’s okay.
