It’s cold, it’s bleak, you’ve resolved to stay in and hibernate for the rest of the month – you may as well be comfortable
Some people love January. For them, January is a fresh start, a chance to grab the year by the horns and start making good on new goals and ambitions.
Others, loathe it – me included. I find January extremely tough. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why, but the seasonal depression, post-Christmas social hangover and worryingly low bank balance certainly contribute some. In previous years, I would try to override the urge to hibernate. I would whip out a shiny New Year planner and try to journal my way to success. I’d fill my calendar with activities and friend catchups and leave myself no time to sit home and rest. This year, I’ve decided to do otherwise. I’ve made no resolutions other than to be kinder to myself and I’m leaning heavily into comfort mode… which obviously entails an impressive amount of loungewear.
