A Lagos-based architect, Effiong Essang, has said the exponential growth in technology especially new applications and services are aiding architectural designs and processes of buildings.
According to Essang, the primary purpose of buildings has always been for humans to have structurally sound and environmentally controlled spaces to house, protect occupants and contents. He emphasised that technology has paved the way to visualise, modify, and implement the purpose. “For instance, clients may be uncertain about their ultimate project or might want to make one or two changes after viewing and the architects would realise that this will mean recreating 3-D models or 2-D sketches from scratch. In present times, many new applications and architectural technologies have made these jobs easier and more time efficient.”
