The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) clarified that despite a recent line tripping incident that caused a temporary blackout in Abuja, Lagos, and Osogbo, there has been no system collapse in the country this year. TCN emphasized that the incident was isolated and full power restoration has been completed.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, on Saturday said that no system collapse has been recorded this year but line tripping. TCN disclosed this in a statement via their official X handle in Abuja. It said, ”TCN management will like to reiterate that there has been no system collapse this year. ”On February 12, when the Omotosho-Ikeja West 330 Kilo Volt transmission line tripped, the Benin-Egbin 330kV line was on a scheduled outage for mechanical line tracing.

Meanwhile, full restoration of bulk power supply to affected areas had since been completed. The company said it was pertinent to note that the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry, NESI, was being regulated by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, and governed by industry documents.
