The Transmission Company Nigeria, TCN, has successfully commissioned a new 300 megavolt-amperes, 330/132/33 kilowatt-hour power transformer in its Benin Transmission Substation. The Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, Ndidi Mbah, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. According to her, the facility was commissioned last Thursday.

She noted that the transformers are a part of the ongoing TCN and World Bank projects aimed at further increasing transmission capacity nationwide. Mbah added that the transformer is one of the two new 300MVA capacity power transformers earlier delivered to the substation. ' TCN will commence the immediate installation of the second transformer, to further increase redundancy in the substation.

The transformers are a part of the ongoing TCN/World Bank projects aimed at further increasing transmission capacity, nationwide,' the statement reads. Recall that in 2018, the World Bank approved a $486 million credit to support the rehabilitation and upgrade of Nigeria’s electricity transmission substations and lines.
