The traditional ruler of Gashaka Local Government Council of Taraba, Alhaji Zubairu Hammangabdo, has praised President Bola Tinubu for the creation of a ministry specially dedicated to livestock development.
Speaking on Wednesday in an event hosted by the Fulbe Development and Cultural Organisation, FUDECO, to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary in Serti, the administrative headquarters of the council, the monarch highlighted the ministry’s potential, which he believed would help in unlocking the vast economic opportunities in the livestock sector.
Proper management of the industry, the monarch believed, would go a long way in not only boosting the livelihood of livestock farmers but also contributing to national economic growth. Pointing out that a well-organised livestock sector could help mitigate recurring conflicts between farmers and herders across the country, he commends FUDECO’s efforts to promote education for herders' children and foster peaceful coexistence between herders and neighbouring communities.
