The Taraba State government has flagged off the second phase of cattle vaccination in the state. The exercise which was flagged off in Sardauna LGA on Tuesday was observed to have also commenced simultaneously in Taku, Gashaka and Kurmi local councils of the state.
The vaccination, as observed by DAILY POST, was necessitated by the recent outbreak of cow disease that led to the deaths of over two thousand cows in Sardauna LGA. Speaking at the flag off ceremony, the Commissioner of Agriculture and Food Security, Professor Nicholas Namessan Oliver, solicited the support of the people of the state. Commenting, the chairman of the LGA, Mohammed Umar, who was also represented by the leader of the legislative council, Salihu Abdulkarim, assured the team of veterinary officers of full support in the discharge of their assigned responsibilities. On his part, Chief of Mambilla, Alhaji Shehu Audu Baju, vowed to give the the team the much desired support needed to vaccinate all cattles spread across the nooks and crannies of the council.
