Such members have also been advised to make use of mechanisms of reconciliation within the party to address their grievances.
A chieftain of the party and member of its Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee Prof. Tahir Mamman who gave the charge during a press conference yesterday also called on members to focus on upcoming congresses and ensure unity and harmony in the party.Mamman, who addressed journalists at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja noted that until now the CECPC avoided making statements/pronouncements on the raging controversy with regards to its legality and that of its chairman.
He noted that the need to call aggrieved members to order became necessary in view of a recent Supreme Court judgement on Ondo State governorship election which he claimed validated the legality of leadership of the party’s CECPC. He noted that non-compliance with INEC directives for the purpose of election but which is not contrary to the provisions of the Electoral Act shall not of itself be a ground in an election petition.
