This combination of file images created on October 13, 2017, shows French former FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke as he arrives at the Court of Arbitration for Sport prior to his appeal over his 10-year ban from football on October 11, 2017, in Lausanne and Paris Saint-Germain’s Qatari president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi as he arrives for the French L1 football match between Paris Saint-Germain and Nancy at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris on March 4, 2017.
A third, unnamed suspect in the case — described by Swiss prosecutors as “a businessman in the sports rights sector” — was also indicted, the statement said. Al-Khelaifi was meanwhile charged with “inciting Valcke to commit aggravated criminal mismanagement,” the OAG said. “While a secondary technical charge remains outstanding, I have every expectation that this will be proven completely groundless and without any substance whatsoever,” he added.
“The charge of criminal mismanagement relates to the fact that Valcke had not reported the mentioned advantages that he received to FIFA, as he was required to do as its Secretary-General, thus unlawfully enriching himself,” the statement said.
