Senior politics editorWe’ve got a great cast of reporters, from coast to coast, ready to talk about the big elections being held today.There are more states voting today, and more delegates at stake, than on any other primary day in 2020 — roughly one-third of all Democratic delegates will get parceled out.
But Super Tuesday is about so much more than just the 14 states holding Democratic presidential primaries.It’s also the first set of congressional and other primaries of the 2020 election cycle. Voters in Alabama, Arkansas, California, North Carolina and Texas will choose nominees for Congress and all down-ballot races, including significant Senate primaries in Alabama, North Carolina and Texas.The big prize, obviously, is California with its 415 delegates.
Texas is the next biggest prize with 228 delegates. More votes will be cast in Houston’s Harris County alone then in all of Iowa.
