Mukhtar Sirajo, president of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), has urged the federal government to ensure transparency in distribution of subsidy removal palliatives
Mukhtar Sirajo, president of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations , has urged the federal government to ensure transparency in the distribution of palliatives meant to ease the effects of petrol subsidy removal. He said Nigerians expect a lot from their leaders, adding that those in positions of authority cannot afford to disappoint citizens.“Nigerians expect a lot from us, and we cannot afford to disappoint them. From various quarters and various sectors, the expectations are high.
“The subsidy removal may have been a well-intended decision of the government to ensure financial prudence and efficiency in the system.“However, the experiences of Nigerians across the land clearly show that the burden occasioned by the policy is taking a heavy toll on them. “The recent release of funds and other relief materials by the federal government to the states to provide some palliatives to the citizens is commendable.
