Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has called on Nigerians to exercise patience with President, Bola Tinubu, regarding the removal of subsidy on petrol.
The royal father in a statement by his press secretary, Alli Ibrahim, obtained in Osogbo on Friday, explained that subsidy removal was a move to stop enriching a few individuals at the expense of the Nigerian masses.
According to him, the long-term effect of the subsidy removal will be to the advantage of many Nigerians, noting that the citizens should endure the current hardship. The statement further read in parts, “The subsidy system is an organised crime to enrich a few rich Nigerians. It’s inimical to the growth and survival of our dear country. No government can survive in Nigeria by paying subsidy on petrol consumption.
