The indefinite strike declared by the Organized labour enjoyed a total compliance Monday in Umuahia the Abia State capital, as workers stayed away from office.
When our Correspondent visited workers secretariat at Ogurube New layout, Umuahia, the twin-tower secretariat was under lock and key.
There was no worker in sight except security guards manning the secretariat who were inside their security post. The story was the same at the Umuahia High Court premises on Ikot Ekpene Road where the gate was also shut.The entrance gate to Ibeku High School at the adjoining premises was also shut. Few students were seen leaving the vicinity as they could not gain entry into the premises.
Security guards at the entrance gate told our Correspondent that the gate was shut because of the strike, adding that students who showed up for studies were asked to go back. All the banks along Library Avenue were equally under lock and key.
