The Joint Action Committee, JAC of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and Allied Institutions, NASU says their strike will persist despite the Federal Government’s release of only one month’s salary out of the four months owed to university workers.

The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation had on Saturday announced the release of the withheld salaries, yet the partial payment did not change the unions’ determination to strike.

National President Mohammed Ibrahim pointed out that many university officials, including Vice-Chancellors, bursars, and registrars, are also affected by salary delays, exacerbating the disruption of university operations nationwide. Ibrahim said the strong compliance among union members, stating that 98 percent of their members have complied with the strike and they will not return to work until their demands are fully met.
