The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigerian has called on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency stop the issuance of the visa-on-arrival policy for all Africans for the next 10 years so as to checkmate kidnappings, banditry and herders/farmers crisis in the country.

He added that Enugu and Kogi states were the most affected in breakdown of professionalism among the police and that the Police Service Commission was moribund and unresponsive to it responsibilities of enforcing discipline. President Muhammadu Buhari had at the Peace and Development Summit in Egypt disclosed that Nigeria would begin issuing visa-on-arrival to all African nationals with effect from January 2020.

He lamented that police officers were usually nowhere near enough to tame the insecurity because most of them were allegedly involved in the multibillion-dollar franchise of kidnappings for cash ransoms.
