The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL) has urged the judicial arm of the country to preside over electoral petition cases without any form of favour or bias. This was contained in a press statement jointly signed Dr Monday Onyekachi Ubani Chairman, NBA-SPIDEL and Okey Leo Ohagba, Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC) NBA-SPIDEL 2023 Annual Conference, detailing the resolutions of the association at its National Conference which was held from 20-23 June 2023.

Participants from civil society, various branches of the government, including the executive, the legislature, and the judiciary, as well as private law practitioners, attended the three-day national conference, which was held in Lagos. According to the participants, to move Nigeria’s democracy and its processes forward, the country must revisit the Uwais report and ensure the implementation of the recommendations made for elections.
