A prominent Plateau leader and representative of the North Central at the 2014 national conference, Elder Bulus Pam Dareng, has decried the present

security structure in the country, saying the few policemen available are only deployed to protect the rich and those in government.

Speaking to LEADERSHIP Weekend in Jos, he said; “In the 1960’s, we had what we called the NA police parading the nooks and cranny of the streets with batons but today, you will walk round the entire Rayfield down to Abattoir without seeing any policeman on patrol.” He argued that for the country to move forward, there should be justice at all levels of governance, adding that the creation of states and local government police is the answer to the insecurity problem in the country. When asked on the 2014 national confab report, Elder Dareng answered; “I wish I was either a governor or a legislator, that is why I said they have colluded with the government in power.

He further added that in Nigeria, “when you vote people into office or position, it is like you are mortgaging your life and future to that person. He makes sure he becomes rich at your own detriment while accusing members of the National Assembly of betraying the people that voted him to power by turning his eyes away from them while evil is being perpetrated on the people.”

Dareng further said the expectations of Nigerians is for them to have a government that would protect, create job opportunities and make lives worthy of living for them, adding that the people have been impoverished and their mandates toiled by this politicians who continue to jump from one party to another.
