South Africa Reports Second Coronavirus Case
South Africa’s Minister of Health Zweli Mkhize addresses a media briefing on the coronavirus at the South African Parliament on March 5, 2020, in Cape Town, as the first case of the COVID-19 illness has been detected in the country.South Africa on Saturday confirmed a second case the novel coronavirus, a 39-year-old woman who had travelled to Italy as part of a group with the first confirmed case.
On Thursday, the authorities said a man who was part of that group was the first case in the country. The health ministry also confirmed that a 39-year-old South African man working in Daegu, South Korea, has also tested positive for COVID-19. The African continent now has more than 30 confirmed cases, including in Egypt, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.
