Sherif vs Atiku: Judge’s absence stalls hearing
Resumption of hearing in the case instituted by Maryam Sherif, divorced wife of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar – son of former Vice President, for custody of their children, was stalled on Thursday.Abubakar is the son of Nigeria’s former Vice President of the same name.
Sherif, had instituted a case against Abubakar, at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Gudu, Abuja, with number CV/41/2019, seeking the court to grant her custody of their three sons. The matter had come up on Thursday for the report of out of court settlement as was agreed in the previous sitting in court.Sherif was in court with her lawyer, but learnt the matter would not hold as the judge, it was gathered, was out of town.
The lawyer, Sale Sule, said though there was no official communication to them that the matter would no longer hold on Thursday, they had taken a new date, February 24, 2020, for resumption of hearing in the case.
