Initially, I was only expecting to stay for a few years before moving on to another town — if you want to work your way up the food chain in media, you have to be willing to swim to a larger pond. And that was how working from home started for me in our house in rural Nova Scotia. Eventually, I did return to the office. I’ll admit, it was good to be around co-workers again and it was short-lived because I was one of ten people who ended up being laid off because of post-pandemic restructuring.
And here we are in 2023 and I’m one of those hybrid workers. I’m working from Halifax on Tuesdays and Thursdays. But not every Tuesday and Thursday. When the weather isn’t great, I work from home. If I have other appointments, I work from home.
