Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, the husband of tennis star Serena Williams, has resigned from Reddit’s board and asked that his seat be replaced with a black candidate.

“I’m saying this as a father who needs to be able to answer his black daughter when she asks: What did you do? Ohanian founded social media website Reddit 15 years ago with his college roommates Aaron Swartz and Steve Huffman. The platform which tags itself as the front page of the internet has come under fire in the past for not taking actions on communities on the site that promote racist contents.
