SERAP tasks Buhari on probe of illegal pipelines | The Guardian Nigeria News - Nigeria and World News ⚠️
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to promptly set up a panel of enquiry to thoroughly, impartially and transparently investigate operations of illegal pipelines from 2001 till date and widely publish names behind the economic sabotage.
The petition followed recent discovery of two unlawful pipelines being used to siphon the country’s crude from Forcados Terminal to the 48-inch Trans Forcados Export Trunk line. IN a related development, Conference of Nigeria Political Parties has said recent comments by Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria and 14th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, on unbundling the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited had vindicated it.
According to the group, notable among challenges faced by the organisation are stealing of crude oil and seeming inability to make and remit profits to government coffers until very recently.
