The Nigerian Senate has urged the Federal Government to include the North East road in the ‘Renewed Hope Legacy Road Infrastructure Projects, stating that North East was the only zone left out of the six geopolitical zones, despite its paramount economic importance to the nation.

The resolution of the Senate on Wednesday followed a motion sponsored by Senator Danjuma Goje representing Gombe Central Senatorial District and former governor who lamented the exclusion of the zone from the legacy projects of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“This has stimulated unprecedented concerns and agitations from the region given the strategic roles these projects will play in this country, hence the need to include the North-East in the projects.” He pointedly named Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe as states that their interconnected roads were excluded, pleading that they should be considered in the interest of the nation.
