The Senate on Wednesday resolved to discuss the conduct of the 2019 general elections, especially the involvement of the military in the electoral process.
The decision followed a motion by the Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, who came under Order 42 to draw his colleagues’ attention to some alleged infractions in the electoral process, including the militarisation of the elections.
The lawmaker said the matter should be debated in order to correct all the anomalies noticed in the electoral process. While Peoples Democratic Party senators insisted that the matter should be debated, their All Progressives Congress colleagues kicked against it.
