Senate President: Concern in APC as Lawan, Goje, Ndume heat contest vanguardngr.com vanguardnews
The call came as the three leading candidates for the office of Senate President continued to dig in. It also emerged yesterday that the national leadership of the APC had commenced discussions on the zoning of the leadership of the 9th National Assembly.
Lawan who was the favourite of the party leadership for the office of Senate President Vanguard gathered has emerged at the head of the pack and in the view of some stakeholders already acting the role. “I don’t see Goje giving up, and the battle could well go to the Senate floor,” one source familiar with the development said yesterday.
Ekweremadu, Vanguard gathered has yet to incline himself towards any of the contenders on the claim that with the Southeast now having Southeast senators that he would not rule any eligible senator from the region out of the contest. Nabena said: “The outgoing Senate President and the PDP caucus have begun surreptitious moves to lure some new APC lawmakers with juicy committee positions in return for their support for the PDP choice for the leadership of the Senate and House of Representatives.
