Thursday’s incident was the 33rd attack by a coyote in Stanley Park this year.

Simon Gravel warned people to avoid the area. “You use the park at your own risk at this point,” he said during a news conference on July 15.While the service wants to remove the aggressive coyotes, Gravel said the long-term solution is to find a way to balance the conservation of the coyote population in the park with public safety.
Vancouver Mayor Kennedy Stewart had said the ongoing attacks by coyotes in the park are a “serious issue,” adding he will work with the city manager to find a solution.
