No fewer than 20 Boko Haram and Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) fighters were neutralized when ground troops
of Sector 3 and Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole repelled what could have been a bloody attack on Monguno town in Borno State.
Four gun trucks belonging to the terrorists were destroyed, while other equipments and some of the insurgents were captured. It will be recalled that 81 people were killed and 13 others injured at Faduma Kolomdi village in Borno State on Tuesday, by suspected Boko Haram terrorists. The Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche, in a statement disclosed that, “the Ground troops of Sector 3 and Air Task Force Operation LAFIYA DOLE successfully repelled attack on Monguno town and inflicted heavy casualties on Boko Haram /Islamic State of West Africa terrorists who attempted to breach Munguno Town in Borno State on Saturday, 13 June 2020”.
“The High Command of the Armed Forces of Nigeria commends the Land component and Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE for the dexterity and professionalism exhibited during this operation. The troops are further encouraged to remain resolute and decisive in their ground and air offensives in the theatre”.
