Some Senior Advocates of Nigeria have said although the Attorney General of the Federation has the exclusive powers to prosecute illegal miners in the country, state governments can also exercise such
powers if state offences are involved or if they are given the fiat to do so by the AGF office.
The editorial also noted that two other Chinese were apprehended for the same offence in Zamfara State. “The government has to erase that impression by acting fast and decisively in bringing these common criminals to justice.”
