Residents of Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Wednesday, trooped out to protest the alleged abandonment of the Akure-Ado Ekiti Expressway by the Federal Government.
The residents added that the poor state of the road continued to aid criminal activities, including kidnapping and murder. “It is on record that killings, kidnappings, robberies, rapes and terrible motor accidents have become uncontrollable on the said road. We cannot afford to die in silence; we want to strongly appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to please look into this matter as a matter of urgency. We also express our displeasure at the manner in which the director general awarded the road.
