The Supreme Court on Friday nullified the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party which produced Jones Onyerere as its Senatorial candidate for Imo West in next month's general election.
Stating that Section 87 of the Electoral Act is clear on where a primary election should be conducted, the judge admonished the parties to always conduct their affairs within the ambit of the law.
The apex court held that the PDP would not participate in next month’s senatorial election since it failed to produce its candidate within the time allowed by law as the time for nominating candidates was already over. As a result, it was deemed that the party would not have a candidate in the February 25 National Assembly polls.All rights reserved.
