The Russian Football Union (RFU) announced that the country’s men’s national team will play a friendly match against Nigeria on June 6th. This will be part of a series of friendly matches for Russia, including games against Zambia in March and Belarus on June 10th. The RFU reached agreements with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and the other two national football bodies to arrange these matches. This comes despite Russia's ban from FIFA competitions. While youth teams are allowed to play under a neutral name, the senior men’s team has been playing non-sanctioned friendlies against non-western countries. The NFF has yet to officially comment on the match announcement.
