The Royal Commonwealth Society , in partnership with the Commonwealth Games Federation , has launched an ocean cleanup campaign.
“This campaign is a new pan-Commonwealth environmental initiative by the Royal Commonwealth Society. The aim is to prevent one million pieces of plastic from entering Commonwealth waterways,” the statement reads.“Through local action and education, this youth-led campaign will encourage everyone to reduce their plastic waste, highlight alternatives, and seek to permanently change the way we utilise our collective waterways across the Commonwealth.
Speaking at the launch, Linda Yueh, RCS executive chair, noted that the Commonwealth is disproportionately affected by ocean pollution, hence the need for the campaign.
