The Heat were 4-9 on the road going into Wednesday’s game in Oklahoma City. They are 2-3 in the second half of back-to-backs this season, often holding out key players for one of the games when playing on consecutive nights. The Suns made just six of 22 wide-open 3s and just 7 of 28 open 3s. The Rockets probably cannot expect to win regularly while giving up 50 open or wide-open looks from the 3-point line. But the Rockets did defend the lane well, cutting off dribble drives and limiting the Suns to just 30 points in the paint where they made just 15 of just 34 attempts.
The challenge for the Rockets could be that their 3-point shooting has been off for weeks. They have made just 29.1 percent of their 3s in December, dropping them to 22nd in 3-point percentage, making up for that by scoring inside.
