A Nigerian tech expert has advocated that robotic surveillance system is the solution to incessant vandalization of Transmission Company of Nigeria towers and other critical infrastructures in Nigeria. The co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of TerraHaptix, Nathan Nwachuku disclosed this in an interview on Saturday.
DAILY POST reports that a Power outage hit Maiduguri as TCN announced that vandals blew up its recently rebuilt T193 and T194 towers along the Damaturu-Maiduguri 330kV Single Circuit Transmission Line. However, as a solution, Nwachuku said the Nigerian government should adopt a robotic system to mitigate vandalism. ' TCN needs a robotic system known as Archer to tackle vandalism. It is a heavy-duty surveillance system that gives up to four coverage on the air.
'The Kallon gives five kilometers of coverage, so before an intruder spots Kallon, it has spotted them five kilometers away and gives an alert to the response team. It is a security system. It is built to secure critical infrastructures,' he told DAILY POST. Recall that Gombe, Yola, and Jalingo residents had experienced months of power outages after vandals destroyed four towers along the Jos-Gombe transmission line.
