The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission has recommended a five-year periodic review of the nation’s revenue allocation formula in line with the constitutional provisions.
This was one of the recommendations of the three-day retreat in Uyo, with the theme “Understanding the Role of Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission and other Stakeholders/Agencies in Nation Building.”
The chairman listed other recommendations of the retreat to include amendment of Section 162 to specify the time frame that the President will present the proposal of the commission on the review of Revenue Allocation Formula to the National Assembly upon receipt from the Commission, and amendment of Section 162 of the constitution to ensure that the allocations of the Local Governments are paid directly to them from the Federation Account in line with the Supreme Court ruling delivered on July...
“The Local Government Chairmen, Councilors, and other Political and Public Office holders are not mentioned in the constitution among the beneficiaries of the remuneration package of the Political and Public Office holders, to be determined by the RMAFC. It also recommended the establishment of a National Revenue Dashboard that would interface with all the revenue-generating agencies for digital real-time monitoring of revenue inflows from them.
