Governor Siminialayi Fubara of Rivers State says there is no going back in the state Local Government Council elections, insisting the elections will be held as scheduled by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RISIEC.
Fubara made this known over the weekend when he received scores of people, who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at Emerengwa, Iguruta, Ikwerre local government area of the state. According to him, preparations were at the advanced stage to hold the elections and asked party members to work at the unit and ward levels. He urged residents to ignore those kicking against the forthcoming elections saying they had already capitulated to defeat.
He urged his supporters to shun the politics of verbal abuse saying such an attitude was a sign of frustration and poor upbringing dissociated from the politics of abuse. Fubara said: “It is very simple. We stand for good governance and that is our focus. I can assure you that there is no division in our family, come and join us. “Support them from your wards and units. It doesn’t matter if you are joining us today, you will still have equal rights with those that have been with us.
