The Acting Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) in Rivers State has vowed to conduct a thorough investigation into alleged instances of anti-party activities committed by its members. The committee, which took over leadership following a court ruling that nullified the previous executive, announced plans to establish a disciplinary panel in the coming days.

They emphasized that the panel would not discriminate in its actions, recommending sanctions including suspensions or expulsions for any member found guilty, regardless of their status or influence.The focus of the probe will be on actions taken by members during the 2023 general elections. Acting State Chairman Robinson Nname-Ewor stated that they are committed to rebuilding the party, which he described as battered and disillusioned across the state, its 23 Local Government Areas, and 319 electoral wards. To achieve this, he outlined plans for a comprehensive sensitization tour across all LGAs and a membership drive to bolster the PDP's presence for future elections. Nname-Ewor further stressed the importance of unity and consultation with all critical stakeholders to restore hope within the party. He acknowledged the need for a firm stance against anti-party activities, stating that the disciplinary committee will address any actions by members that could tarnish the party's reputation. The Acting Executive Committee outlined specific conditions for the PDP's continued existence in Rivers State. One key demand is the full reinstatement of the party's leadership under Governor Siminalayi Fubara by the PDP National Leadership. They also asserted that the Acting Executive, led by Nname-Ewor, must be recognized as the legitimate leadership following the court's dismissal of the previous executive.The committee emphasized that they are aware of the sensitivity surrounding their transition and have chosen to temporarily postpone their planned takeover of the PDP State Secretariat at 23 Aba Road to prevent potential unrest. Security agencies have advised them to halt the process, recognizing the need to maintain peace and order. The committee expressed their commitment to working with the authorities and all stakeholders to ensure a smooth and peaceful transition for the PDP in Rivers State
