The crisis in Rivers State appears to have deepened following the decision of the House of Assembly to rule against Governor Siminalayi Fubara to enact the Service Commission Law. The House took this step on Friday after convening an impromptu sitting to set up the Rivers State House of Assembly Service Commission Law.
“Where the Governor withholds assent and the bill is again passed by two-thirds majority, the bill shall become a law and the assent of the Governor shall not be required,” read a statement made public by the media aide to the Speaker of the State Assembly, Martins Wachukwu.
