The President of the Ijaw National Congress , Prof. Benjamin Okaba, has called on his kinsmen to remain calm over the court judgment ordering the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to stop all financial allocations to Rivers State.

reports that on October 30, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the apex bank to cease all monthly financial allocations to the state government. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, who delivered the judgment, cited “constitutional somersault” and “aberration” in how Governor Siminalayi Fubara has been handling the state’s budget since January this year. Justice Abdulmalik’s decision follows Rivers State Governor Fubara’s presentation of the 2024 budget to a faction of the state’s legislature.
