Rita Lori-Ogbebor leads Itsekiri women in campaign for Okowa’s re-election vanguardngr.com vanguardnews
Lori-Ogbebor, in an address read by her aide, Mr. Kennedy Awani, yesterday at the rally, said Governor Okowa had revisited and completed several abandoned projects in Itsekiri communities, adding that he had shown that he truly deserved a second term to effectively develop the state.
She said: “I took a picture of Olere Creek; this is an area which produces the wealth of this country. Most of the oil in Delta State comes from Dibi/Olero creek. Yet these people have no water to drink and no hospitals. “I took my complaints to Governor Okowa and with the picture of abandoned water projects, hospitals that had been done halfway and deserted.
“You could see the pity in his eyes and he said to me, ‘I will do it. Give me two months, I will deliver’. Ubeji Road had been neglected for years, he is nearly completing it. It is for these reasons we are backing him.“We have an unwritten agreement where the governorship is rotated among the ethnic groups.
“It is the turn of Delta North ,where Okowa comes from. We must give him the opportunity to complete his term for peace sake.”
